About Us
For over thirty years, John Johnson has handled cases in the state and federal courts in Virginia. Much of his practice involved representation of large corporations and government entities. But sensing that individuals deserved the same degree of skill, he changed his practice model so that he is now able to level the playing field. Mr. Johnson is committed to his community, and to making sure that everyone has a voice and the opportunity for that voice to be heard. And while most legal disputes are resolved by settlement, John Johnson also knows his way to the courthouse, and what to do when he gets there.
Areas of Practice
- Family Law
For many people, their family truly is the center of their universe. And changes to that universe make hearts hurt. Divorce is a major life moment. People are moving from one stage of their lives to another stage. The decision to separate, to initiate a divorce, or how to respond to your spouse seeking a divorce, is often driven by emotion. Don’t make a decision about your children, or your property when clouded by emotions. The Johnson Law Group, PLC, will help you navigate this process with realistic outcomes based on results-oriented problem solving. We can help you face the challenge of the moment with the goal of making a better future. In addition to divorce, we handle child custody issues, marital agreements, Department of Social Services (DSS) matters, support modifications, and asset allocation. Mr. Johnson is also certified by the Supreme Court of Virginia as a Guardian Ad Litem for children.
- Traffic and Criminal
When you are faced with criminal charges, serious traffic violations, or DUI/DWI, you have a lot at stake. Your freedom, your livelihood, your driving privileges, and your record are all at risk. But just because you have been charged with a serious traffic violation, DUI/DWI, or other crime doesn’t mean you are guilty. There are several factors that can be reviewed to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the case against you and determine an effective strategy. Let us help you with the process so that you can weather the storm. We also handle post-conviction issues including revocation of parole, and habeas corpus matters challenging convictions.
- Workers’ Compensation
We believe that workers should be treated fairly—with dignity and respect. For us, it just comes down to doing the right thing for the people who give so much of themselves every day. For over thirty years John Johnson represented national insurance companies, large, self-insured corporations, state and local governments, in workers’ compensation cases throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Put his extensive experience to use to handle your work-related injuries.
